Possible alien abduction or what?
Ok so one night I went to sleep in my room as any other night, and I woke up all of a sudden and I couldn’t move or talk or Anything!?? I tried calling out, tried moving my fingers, nothing.. But I can still move my eyes and I was fully awake. I know it wasn’t a dream because I can hear my dad snoring, fan spinning, you know. The weird thing about this inccident is that I woke up in the morning like it was all a dream. And I fully remembered everything and then Boom! Nothing.. I couldn’t remember anything else after trying to move and talk. One minute I’m looking around the room not being able to move, then it’s morning? WtF? I wasn’t even tired when this happened so I don’t know how I could have fell asleep? I havn’t told my bro or Mom/Dad because i feard I was going crazy. And to let everyone know, this has never happened to me before. Is this a common thing?

You are experiencing whats called sleep paralysis and it is very common especially when your a teen. pretty much your body is asleep but your brain is awake(that’s what its like when you sleep so your body will conserve energy).

Sleep paralysis is not uncommon, I’ve experienced it myself. I don’t think there’s much to be afraid of, however. Every time I’ve heard about, it wears off in only a few seconds. In my case, I tried going back to sleep again after a few seconds of panic, and it ended instantly. So I think not worrying about it is the best thing.

Funeral for my fish – what is the appropriate sermon?
PLEASE do not laugh at me. I am extremely upset right now. This fish was my only pet, my companion, and I loved him very much. I know everyone thinks of fish as animated decorations, but to me he was my mascot and friend.

He just passed away this morning. We’re holding a small funeral service for him, and though I’ll be giving him a normal eulogy, I’d also like my boyfriend to read him a sermon. Problem is, we’re agnostic. A Christian sermon hardly seems appropriate since Christianity doesn’t hold aminals in high value, and besides, we don’t really like Christianity all that much. A Buddhist sermon seems most fitting, and a Wiccan one would be OK except Wicca is kind of cheesy hocus-pocus (no offense to any Wiccans out there). Please give me some ideas.

And please, no smart-alec wisecracks.

It’s hard to lose a close pet, I know. Really, I think you should just do or say whatever comes from your heart or are inspired to do.

Personally, when a pet of mine dies, I dig the hole myself, bury the pet myself, and, while just sitting there beside the grave, Tend to say four lines of a poem, the last four lines, that go:

What a marvelous thithe
My Lord and Lady hath given thee
And oh, they shalt have thee
And Summer, as far as thou can see.

After that, for a week or so, I stop by and say a few words to the spirit if it is lingering, and after I week I stop, since the spirit will have left.

Plot: Mrs. Jumbo sadly looks on how babies are delivered by stork to colleague circus-animals but as even a baby elephant makes a most cumbersome package, so her so is just last to arrive, but soon becomes a laughing stock for the jealous herd because of his more then jumbo-size ears, so he gets nick-named Dumbo. When she can’t stomach the public making fun of her firstborn, she is locked up as mad elephant, and the taunted kid finds himself all alone; well, except for a self-appointed mentor-protector, Timothy Q. Mouse -subsize, yet ideal to scare the jealous herd- who keeps motivating Dumbo. Alas inspiring the circus director to make Dumbo the top (literally) of an elephant pyramid stunt literally brings the house down, so he’s demoted to clown. Would I be able to find a Dumbo Rat at PETCO?

It is unlikely that you will find a Dumbo Rat at Petco, as most of the rats sold at Petco are sold for snake food. You can still adopt them as pets (one of my boys came from Petco!) but they’re not likely to be from a reputable breeder and not likely to have any unusual traits like Dumbo ears.

PetSmart is slightly better, and more likely to sell rats with unusual traits (dumbo, hairless, rex, etc.) so you might try there instead.

Even better, you could go straight to a breeder! Most breeders will have some rats with the Dumbo trait, and rats from breeders will probably be healthier and live longer. I have linked to a few directories of rat breeders in the "sources" section, so you can find a breeder near you.

Quite possibly. At my nearby Petco and Pet quarters they have signs above the cages that say the different types of animal, and price. Like "Rex Rat = $7 Dumbo Rat = $7.50" [I don't really know what it'll be for you, but just an example]. When in doubt, call ahead or go in and ask :]

However, it’s not suggested you get one rat, as they become lonely and depressed and may die soon because like any other species, being isolated from its own kind will hurt it. Pairs are reccomended :]

Also, getting from a rat breeder is a better option, if possible, but I myself have purchased from a pet store and they’re usually fine. Best of luck.

Any store that sells pets is going to have cruelty going on one way or the other. With PetSmart and PetCo being two of the largest pet store chains in the U.S. they sell millions of pets every year. Yes, they do promote rescue- but only the rescue of dogs and cats. They sell "exotic" pets (i.e. guinea pigs, hamsters, birds) who are abused, abandoned, and euthanized in shelters nearly as much as dogs and cats. If PetSmart ad Petco stopped the sale of all their animals then there would be no problem with them (except for the fact they give horrible pet advice). They purchase their pets from MASS pet suppliers who do shockingly inhumane breeding and care tactics. See www.petsmartcruelty.com which also applies to PetCo. The only way to stop this cruel, inhumane cycle is to boycott stores that sell pets altogether- you can adopt ALL pets from rabbits to reptiles. There are rescues dedicated to these pets and shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia- plus unwanted pets on Craigslist, Kijiji, etc.

First of all, if you apply for more classes, your automatically eligible for more funding. Also, if you’re considered independent (over 24 or married), you’re eligible for more. You can contact the lender that is funding your fafsa school loan and look into getting a private loan through them. Also, credit unions are supposed to be good for that as well. Sallie Mae, I believe, works with a lot of schools and student loans. You have to have REALLY good credit however, or your cosigner. Go to your school’s financial aid office, they are there to help you find additional ways to find funding. Also, look into scholarships. I’ve gotten a scholarship from Fastweb.com, and I’m no honors student either!!! Good luck!

Am feeling depressed after being off the contraceptive pill for 16 days.?
am 31 years old and have been on the contraceptive pill for 12 years. Myself and my partner are thinking to start trying for a family next year so I have come off the contraceptive pill now. The first few days were fine but now, I am a nervous wreck! I haven’t slept for 48hours, cry at everything, have become paranoid to the extend of accusing my partner of hiding money in a secret bank account so he can leave me, don’t want to leave the house, can’t be bothered to do anything ie, cook, clean, shower etc. In fact even coming on the internet was a chore, but after feeling so low I felt like running away to save my partners sanity, I thought I should seek help.

I suffered depression 10 years ago, and was put on Seroxat which I had a bad reaction too and ended up attempting suicide. I am not at that stage yet, but I know the warning signs and I am certainly heading that way!! Can coming off the pill cause this? I was on Yasmin for the last 2 years.

I live in Turkey, so the chances of getting any help from Doctors here etc is not an option as I don’t speak the language and there is no English speaking Doctors in this area.
