Jehovah's Witnesses, what do you say about Cro-Magnon? Early humans that pre-date Adam & Eve?
OK, as some of you might know, i’m having some (serious) doubts about religion and naturally, the elders are trying to restore my belief and faith in God.
I had several different topics about evolution that we discovered for hours on end. Some questions they answered well, logically even convincing, leaving me without a shadow of a doubt.
However, one question they couldn’t answer was about what the Bible says about Adam & Eve and how they were created about 6000 years ago when carbon dating shows that the Cro-Magnon (very early humans whose remains have been excavated by anthropologists in France )existed about 30,000 years ago, predating the Bible’s account by more that 20,000 years.
I stymied them and they promised to get back to me later after research…
What says you?
You see, i believe that to be a brother with infallible faith, one needs to believe 100% what one teaches and what the Bible says, and if the event should come by that one meets an intelligent student in field ministry who has very convincing proof to refute creation and thereby the existence of a God, one needs to be prepared with hard and tangible evidence to back one’s claims or beliefs.
This is what i’m trying to do. You should never be vehemently against what you don’t understand fully. It’s stupid. And i don’t want to be stupid. I’m trying to understand both sides. The Bible and evolution. I want to be prepared.
So if you can, help me out here, thanks.

Radiocarbon dating is dependent on certain cosmic rays being constant. It is unprovable one way or the other that these rays have been constant. Also, these rays would be affected by the atmosphere. So when Genesis speaks of the "water above the expanse" that existed before the flood, this would certainly would have affected carbon dating. After the flood, the "water above the expanse" was gone.
Also, what makes us humans isn’t our physical characterisics. God made man "in his image." (Genesis 1:26) This means we were given his godly qualities, which are elevated above animalistic tendencies. Adam was the first earthly creature that God made who had divine qualities: the ability to know and worship God, spirituality, true godly love, justice, etc. The animals lack this. Try explaining the concept of God to a dolphin or chimpanzee, two of the smartest animals in the animal kingdom.
So, if there were any creatures that resembled humans in any way before Adam came along, they weren’t humans because they weren’t made in God’s image.

Look at the original Greek manuscripts, or copies of them anyway, and compare that with your NWT. It’s a horrible job that left tons of verses out. It just so happened to drop verses that talk about the divinity of Jesus as God and Holy Ghost as a person who is also part of God. JW is a cult.

Well radio-dating isn’t as exact as you would think.
I personally don’t believe in the bible, but I do believe in valid answers. As far as radioactive dating goes, it isn’t infallible.
Radio dating done on objects that were in Hiroshima were said to be tens of thousands of years older than they really were. It may not help to explain the exact circumstances, but it does at the very least show that radio dating isn’t completely flawless. One arguement could be that the Cro-Magnon people died in a large volcanic eruption. After all, the same result that was in Hiroshima was also found to be true at Mt. St. Helens.

If you choose to put your highest faith in the JW religion (or any other religion), you can not have your highest faith in reason and methological empiricism, and thus such concerns are unnecessary.
If, on the other hand, you choose to place your highest faith in reason and methological empiricism, you are not a true religious believer anyway.
